In the Year 2008 I, Luz Divina Diaz, received a call that disturbed me. My sister, Teresa from the Dominican Republic, called me, very upset. A grandmother of 7 children, came to her saying that she was going to take her life and the lives of her seven grandchildren. She did not have any food to give to them. The children's mother, had abandoned them, leaving them in her mother's care. She had no idea were she went or if she'd ever return. The father was incarcerated and she didn't meet the means to support the children. It was a very disturbing call. This grandmother was determined to end her life, but more importantly end the lives of her grandchildren. Teresa called me crying for help. I was here in the United States. Being so far away I felt helpless, but immediately I told my sister not to worry. I was going to western union to deposit some money for her, but for no reason was she to allow that the desperate grandmother end her life and the lives of those children. Ever since that phone call, inspiration struck in my heart. The desire to help the needy children of my homeland!
Like this grandmother, there are many others that never get the help they need. After talking to the Lord in prayers, I have decided in my heart to help as much as I can. That is why this foundation has been started, because I could never forget that call. It is a call that haunts me everyday and makes me ask myself, what if we were too late. But by the grace of God we were not. We were able to reach her and since then we are serving her and that community with what little we have. All I ask the Lord, is to give me the strength and allow me to be able to help. Not only the children of hunger, but also the battered women that have to sell their body to feed their loved ones. This goal has been put in my heart for a reason and I will put all my efforts into making this dream a reality!

derribadas y niños en América Latina. La Fundacion Luz Divina Inc. Provee ayuda médica, alimento, ropa, refugio y ayuda
de educación a muchos niños empobrecidos.

En el Año 2008 Yo, Luz Divina Diaz, recibi una llamada que
me inquietó. Mi hermana, Teresa de la República Dominicana, me llamó, muy angustiada. Una abuela de 7 niños, vino a notificarle que ella iba a tomar su vida
y las vidas de sus nietos. Ella no tenía con que alimentarlos. La
madre de niños, su hija los había abandonado dejandolos al cuidado de su
madre. El padre estaba encarcelado. Ella no tenía ningún tipo de recursos de donde sacar para dar alimento ni vestimentas a estos niños Esta era una llamada muy inquietante. Esta
abuela estaba determinada a terminar su vida, pero más importantemente terminar
las vidas de sus nietos. Teresa me llamó pidiendo ayuda. Yo estaba aquí en los Estados Unidos. Y
estando tan lejos me sentí impotente, pero inmediatamente dije a mi hermana no
preocuparse. Yo iba a la western union para depositar un poco de dinero para que ella pudiera ayudar a esta mujer, pero que por
ningun motivo permitiera
que la abuela desesperada llevara a cabo su macabro plan. Después de aquella llamada telefónica, nacio en mi corazón. ¡El deseo de ayudar
a los niños necesitados de mi patria!
Como esta abuela, hay muchos otros que nunca consiguen la
ayuda que ellos necesitan. Después de dirigirme al Señor en oracion, nacio
en mi corazón ayudar tanto como puedo. Por eso esta fundación ha sido
comenzada, porque yo nunca he podido olvidar aquella llamada. Esta es una llamada
que me frecuenta diario y me hace preguntarme, y si hubieramos actuado demasiado
tarde?
Pero por la gracia de Dios no fue asi, fuimos capaces de
alcanzarla y desde entonces servimos a ella
y a aquella comunidad con lo poco que tenemos. Solo le pido al Señor, que me de fuerza y permita que yo sea capaz de ayudar.
No sólo los niños hambrientos, sino también las mujeres derribadas que
tienen que vender su cuerpo para alimentar sus amados.
¡Este objetivo ha sido puesto en mi corazón por una razón y
pondré todo mi esfuerzo en la realizacion de ver este sueño convertido en
realidad.
